Once every four weeks I eat together with G. and her family with two young children. I’ve always been up for trying new things and I thought: let’s see if this works for me. It turned out to be a success.
They are very nice people and I really enjoy eating together. I am 78 and my wife has been in a nursing home for over a year. I noticed that I was crawling into my shell a bit and I wanted to prevent that. The host family keeps me in touch with the outside world. We eat together from half past five until seven and then I go home.
G. is a remedial educationalist and I also worked in education for the last twelve years before my retirement. In this way I keep in touch with how things are going in education at the moment. And I can also share my experience in education with them. We complement each other well in this way.
